Parasport in Japan, past and present

During the visit of Paralympics in Paris Dr. Olesya Zaglada visited exhibition “Parasport in Japan, past and present” in the House of Japanese Culture in Paris, which takes place during the Paralympics in Paris 2024.

The exhibition traces the history of Paralympic sport in Japan and looks back at the legacy of the Tokyo Games through photographs of the 22 events that took place in Tokyo in 2021. It also showcases the contribution and innovations of Japanese companies in the field of para-sport equipment and manufacturing. This exhibition reflects the aspirations of all those involved in para-sport, in particular the advent of a more inclusive society.

Japanese Paralympic team finished the 2024 Paris Paralympics with 41 medals: 14 gold, 10 silver, and 17 bronze. A total of 175 Japanese athletes took part in the games.

Athletes took advantage of the new training venue, the Ajinomoto National Training Center in Tokyo constructed in 2019, to prepare themselves for the Paris Paralympics, demonstrating a positive legacy of the Tokyo Games.

On the exhibition the legacy of the Tokyo Games were shown in a very good way, for example at the underground stations the barrier was eliminated and the doors were built on all the platforms.
