Inclusion Day in Olympic Adventure Camp in Ulenberg Park in Düsseldorf with Mayor of Düsseldorf.
Sport connects people – regardless of age, abilities or physical capabilities. On Tuesday, 25 August 2026, the Olympic Adventure Camp (OAC) held its special focus day, “Inclusion in Sport.” Mayor of Düsseldorf Dr. Stephan Keller took the opportunity to join children and young people in trying out a variety of inclusive sports activities and to get actively involved himself.

Dr. Olesya Zaglada joined the event together with her daughter Zoya, which went with Dr. Keller and other children through different sport stations.
The programme featured several varied activity stations, like para ice hockey, rowing ergometer, wheelchair obstacle course and calisthenics . At the para ice hockey station run by the Düsseldorf para ice hockey training group, participants had the chance to sit in the specially designed sledges themselves. Under the guidance of Marcel Malchin, who played for the German team at the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games, participants experienced first-hand just how much skill and coordination are required to move around in them.

Mayor Dr Stephan Keller joined the children and young people at the various stations and
was impressed by the varieties of offers on the Inclusion Day. He said: «We want to promote inclusion and participation. We want to make sure that everyone can truly take part, whether with or without a disability.»

He continued:
“Sport brings people together. When we are active together, it does not matter whether someone uses a wheelchair or is trying an exercise for the first time. What matters is that we include and support one another. Community, physical activity and participation are at the heart of it. Inclusion means giving everyone the opportunity to take part and to find their place within the community.” https://www.duesseldorf.de/medienportal/pressedienst-einzelansicht/pld/gemeinsam-aktiv-ob-dr-stephan-keller-besuchte-das-olympic-adventure-camp-am-inklusionstag
