Swiss Paralympic Team is celebrating its success in Bern

On 19 March 2026 Maria Eigenmann and Olesya Zaglada were invited by its Partners PluSport and Swiss Paraplegic Association to the reception in honor of the Swiss Paralympic Team of Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympic Games held in  Bellevue Palace  in Bern. Sechs Medaillen, drei Diplome und ein würdiger Empfang des Paralympic Teams – Swiss Paralympic. The incredible Reception was organized by the 3 main Swiss Organizations, two of which are long term partners of PSF – PluSport, Swiss Paraplegic Association and Swiss Paralympic. As Mr. Christof Baer, the President of Swiss Paralympic and CEO of PluSport, said: “3 organizations, 3 cultures, 3 perspectives, 3 responsibilities create one event of honor of Paralympic Athletes”

With six medals, three diplomas, and numerous other top results in their luggage, there was every reason to celebrate. The presence of Swiss Paralympic Team impressively underscored the significance of these achievements and contributed to the special atmosphere of the evening.

Mr. Christof Baer started the official part of the evening : “9 athletes, 6 medals, 3 medalists in 2 sports – an incredible success story.”

He mentioned all athletes present at the event  by names: Robin Cuche, Aron Fahrni, Fabrice von Grünigen,  Emerick Sierro, Theo Gmür, Pascal Christen, Christophe Damas.

Luca Tavasci and Ueli Rotach were not present, but also were honored by the applause. 

Mr. Baer said that he is incredibly proud of these achievements, and of paralympic athletes.

He admitted that in his role of President of Swiss Paralympic, CEO of PluSport and in a first line as Swiss sport fan that the goal of Paralympic Team to make Switzerland proud was  achieved by the Paralympic Athletes.

Mr. Baer bowed with respect before the Paralympic Athletes.

Aron Fahrni Aron Fahrni: unverstellt, strahlend – und Bronzegewinner – Swiss Paralympic won bronze medal and Fabrice von Grünigen Fabrice von Grünigen: «Ich hatte richtig Spass am Snowboarden» – Swiss Paralympic – silver medal , both medals in para snowboard.

Aron Fahrni  delivered a historic moment: by winning bronze in snowboard cross, he secured Switzerland’s first-ever Paralympic medal in snowboarding. Shortly after his success, the 27-year-old paid tribute above all to those who had supported him: “I’m very happy and relieved for the staff, who have done an outstanding job.” Detail The work  of  supporting team, staff, coaches, physiotherapists, doctors, service members, media team, often carried out behind the scenes, was also recognized by PluSport, Swiss Paralympic, and the Swiss Paraplegic Association at an event in Bern. Representing the entire support team, Mauritz Trautner, head coach of alpine skiing, and Silvan Hofer, head coach of snowboarding, were honored on stage.

The valuable input of sponsors, partners, foundations was also mentioned.

After the official part the Apero took place where all participants of the evening could celebrate an incredible success of Swiss Paralympic Team.
