Football for all – a successful funding year

With two impressive tournaments, the funding year and the successful partnership between PluSport and the People’s Sports Foundation were celebrated in a fitting way. At the same time, these events marked a motivating start to the 2026 football season, which has already begun very promisingly.

In January, the popular inclusive football tournament once again took place in Widnau, where children and young people with and without disabilities played side by side. For all participants, the event is a highlight of the year, placing joy, connection and team spirit at its centre. Four teams from the Rheintal region competed against each other. Their teams were named after the famous Manchester United, BVB Dortmund, PSG and FC St. Gallen. Goals were celebrated together, regardless of which team scored – a powerful example of lived inclusion.

In February, the tournament in Regensdorf followed, bringing together a total of twelve teams. Once again, fair play, respect and enthusiasm defined the day. The young players impressed with great dedication and visible enjoyment of the game. Numerous committed volunteers ensured smooth organisation and a consistently positive atmosphere. A Fair Play Cup, a Team Spirit Cup and a Team Engagement Cup were awarded in recognition of the teams’ efforts.

Thanks to the generous support of the People’s Sports Foundation, these events were able to take place at this high standard and continue to grow in quality. We sincerely thank you for your commitment, which has made a meaningful contribution to enabling children and young people with disabilities to experience sporting success, a sense of belonging and an inspiring start to the new football year.
