People’s Sport Foundation Reaffirms Commitment to IWBF for Fourth Year

The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) is pleased to confirm the renewal of its valued partnership with the People’s Sport Foundation (PSF) for a fourth consecutive year, continuing a collaboration that has created new opportunities for athletes with disabilities around the world.

Since 2022, PSF has served as an official supporter of IWBF, playing a significant role in the growth and visibility of wheelchair basketball. The renewed support ensures that IWBF can continue driving forward essential programmes that underpin the sport’s development—from international officials’ clinics to the successful staging of global competitions.

As the partnership enters its fourth year, the shared focus remains on creating meaningful pathways—not only for elite-level competition, but also for wider participation, community engagement, and increased visibility for wheelchair basketball players. Together, IWBF and PSF remain committed to making the sport more accessible, inclusive, and sustainable across all regions.

Expressing his appreciation for the continued relationship, IWBF President Ulf Mehrens said:

“This partnership continues to be one of substance and shared purpose. With PSF’s backing, we’ve been able to strengthen key areas of development and foster international connections that elevate the entire game.”

Dr. Olesya Zaglada, Founder and Vice President of PSF, added:

“PSF is happy to continue its cooperation with IWBF, a valuable long-term partner. We especially appreciate IWBF’s invitation to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, where we had the pleasure of meeting with the IWBF team and witnessing the spectacular competitions. We look forward to achieving new goals together.”

This past year marked a particularly meaningful moment in the journey, as IWBF had the honour of hosting Dr. Zaglada at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Her visit captured the full energy of the sport—with packed venues, passionate fans, and unforgettable performances on court. The wheelchair basketball competition served as a vivid reminder of the power of inclusive sport to inspire and connect communities.

The ongoing partnership aligns closely with PSF’s mission to develop long-term social and investment programmes for athletes with disabilities, complementing IWBF’s efforts to expand and professionalise wheelchair basketball at all levels.

Both organisations look forward to another year of collaboration and to continuing their shared mission of building a more inclusive sporting world.
