Wheelchair basketball at REHACARE in Düsseldorf

On 26.09.2024 at the Rehacare was Wheelchair basketball talk with bronze medalist of Paris 2024 Thomas Böhme.

Thomas Böhme  was born with spina bifida and was in wheelchair almost all his life. He started playing wheelchair basketball when he was 11 years old.

Thomas Böhme said: “Luckily my disability didn’t present a problem at primary school, high school or in any other situations. Though as a child I was always a bit shy and insecure. But the sport helped me to become more open and more self-confident.”

Thomas Böhme said that at the Paralympics in Paris he had first big success – bronze medal.  Every athlete wants to Paralympic Games and this time Team Germany won. Germany was seeking their first medal since 1992, had history and pride on the line.

Thomas Böhme told he was thrilled with wheelchair basketball from the first second he tried it at the age of 11 and it was hard work till the bronze medal. He is also a team player.

He has given the advice to younger generations just to try the sports to find their own passion.
